The player can take advantage of this by creating his own game engine, or by using those of his competitors. They also gain experience, which will allow them to produce better games. When a game is released, the player earns genre points, which unlock new game genres. The employees produce points that improve the quality of the games. It all starts in a tiny studio, the only console available is the "Odissey" and the games are hand coded. He can choose his appearance among some very basic avatars. The player begins by choosing the name, then the logo and finally the specialty of his company. They also have to manage the competition, crack their game to increase sales and hackers to get their secrets. Players have to create their game engine, manage one or more studios, fulfill contracts, unlock new genres, manage marketing campaigns, manage servers, manage a dematerialized store, negotiate with console manufacturers to obtain exclusivity or the right to publish games. It all starts with odissey, and ends with the era of last generation consoles. The game starts in 1976, but the start date is configurable.
